A few weeks ago, an article was written on, “Bleeding Gums/Gingivitis: Six Common Causes.” This problem has denied some people of their confidence. It has made a few individuals unnecessarily quiet to avoid having their diseased gums being seen. Below are five things you can do about your bleeding gums.
Proper tooth brushing
It is important for you to be sure that you are brushing properly at least twice a day. This is because the commonest cause of bleeding gums is bacterial plaque which is easily gotten rid of by proper tooth brushing.
Check your tooth brush
It is also prudent to check that the instrument you use to clean your teeth – your tooth brush- is still effective. Your tooth brush should be changed on the average every three months. This would enable you to get rid of plaque effectively.
Warm saline mouth wash
A glass of warm water with a level teaspoon of salt used to gargle is always helpful for the gums. It is actually the number one home remedy for the gums.
Usually prescribed by the dentist, this is a mouth wash that is bactericidal (killing of bacteria) and is an adjunct treatment for bleeding gums. Its use should be for a short duration of not more than two weeks at a time. This is because it tends to stain the teeth if used for prolonged period.
Routine dental check up
Last but by no means the least, as we would always advocate on this platform, the best thing to do when you have any issues with your teeth or your mouth in general, is for you to visit the dentist and get a checkup. It really is the best and cheapest option.
